Sculpting Light on the Black Sea: The Process Behind "Seascape"

There is something extraordinarily expressive about working with oil paints and a palette knife. Unlike traditional brushwork, using a palette knife allows me to sculpt pure pigment directly onto the canvas, building raw texture, depth, and energy into every square centimeter.

In my latest work, "Seascape", I wanted to capture the dramatic interplay between warm sunset light and tranquil coastal waters. By applying heavy impasto layers of rich oranges, fiery reds, and luminous yellows, the traditional wooden vessels become anchor points within a glowing, atmosphere-filled horizon. Mixing colors directly on the canvas creates organic transitions and vivid reflections that give the scene a tactile, living quality.
