Whispers of the Deep: Sculpting Water with Steel
There is a unique rhythm that takes over when working directly with oil paint and a palette knife. Rather than mixing pigments on a palette beforehand, applying bold strokes of cobalt, turquoise, and titanium white straight onto the canvas allows for a far more spontaneous and tactile connection to the piece.
In this latest seascape studio session, the focus is entirely on capturing the fluid, unpredictable motion of sea waves. The metal edge of the palette knife creates sharp crests, deep ocean troughs, and natural color bleeds that brushes simply cannot replicate. Heavy impasto textures bring the water to life, giving the viewer a sense of the sea's raw energy and light.
